Finding an Old Story or Advertisement
Search the online archive for stories from The Seattle Times dating back to February 1, 1996. Please note that The Seattle Times online site does not contain every story from each day's newspaper. The Times also does not archive photos online.
A searchable archive of classified ads from the prior Sunday, including paid birth and death notices, is available on our site.
For newspaper stories that cannot be found in our online archives, please use your local library. Through your local public library you should have access to one or more of these sources for searching complete back issues of The Seattle Times:
CD-ROMs from NewsBank (1985 to the present)
Dialog (1989 to the present)
Lexis-Nexis (1990 to the present)
Roll microfilm of The Seattle Times (a chronological record of The Times from the late 1800s to the present) which is marketed by UMI and can be borrowed through interlibrary loan from some of the libraries that have purchased it.
